(A Poem on Proverbs 1:1–7)
In the quiet halls of ancient thought,
Where wisdom’s golden threads are caught,
A king once knelt with humble plea,
“Grant me wisdom, Lord, from Thee.”
With words inscribed in sacred scroll,
He taught of life, both firm and whole,
To guide the steps of young and old,
Through battles fierce, through blessings bold.
Fear the Lord, the wise begin,
For reverence guards the soul from sin.
A heart that bows before His name
Shall walk with grace through fire and flame.
Seek not the path of prideful fools,
Who mock instruction, break the rules.
But he who learns and heeds the call
Shall stand in strength when shadows fall.
For knowledge grows in those who seek,
The humble hearts, the spirits meek.
And wisdom lights the narrow way,
Through night and storm to break of day.
So open wide your ears to hear,
Let wisdom’s voice be loud and clear.
For those who trust in God’s command
Will find true life in His strong hand.
Thus Proverbs calls, with steady voice,
To walk in truth, to make wise choice.
Begin with God—He knows it all,
And wisdom comes when hearts are small.
Closing Thoughts
This poem, inspired by Proverbs 1:1–7, reminds us that true wisdom begins with reverence for the Lord. It is a path illuminated by humility and teachability, guiding us through life’s challenges and blessings. When we start with God, we find the strength to navigate both joy and trial with clarity and peace.
Prayer
Lord, teach me to walk in Your wisdom. Help me to honor You in all I do, to seek Your guidance in every step, and to trust You through the battles and blessings of life. Grant me a heart that reveres You and a spirit open to learning.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
