When Wisdom Calls

A Journey from Chaos to Peace

Scripture: Proverbs 1:20–33

“But whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.” (Proverbs 1:33, NIV)

In Proverbs 1:20–33, wisdom is portrayed as a voice calling out in the streets, urging people to listen and follow her. Those who heed wisdom’s call will find peace and safety, but those who reject it will face chaos and calamity. This poem reflects on the contrast between folly and wisdom, chaos and peace, and the ever-present call of wisdom to guide us through life.

Folly Leads to Chaos, Wisdom Leads to Peace

(A Poem on Proverbs 1:20–33)

In the crowded streets, a voice calls clear,

“Turn to wisdom, draw near, draw near!

She stands in the square, her hand held high,

Yet many pass by, with no reply.”

“How long,” she cries, “will you love your ways,

Mocking wisdom through fleeting days?

If only you’d turn, I’d pour out my heart,

And teach you the way, a new life to start.”

But folly stands with a hardened face,

Ignoring the call of wisdom’s grace.

When storms arise and troubles roar,

They’ll seek her too late, at wisdom’s door.

Fear will come like a sudden wave,

And terror will grip those who won’t behave.

The path they chose, now dark and steep,

Will lead them down where shadows creep.

For those who reject, the path is grim,

A road of chaos, dark and dim.

With no guide to steer through life’s cruel tide,

They stumble and fall, with none by their side.

Yet those who listen to wisdom’s voice,

Will find a path of peaceful choice.

In safety they’ll walk, through storm and calm,

Living with ease, without fear of harm.

For folly brings chaos, regret, and despair,

But wisdom brings peace beyond compare.

So heed the call before it’s too late,

And walk with wisdom through life’s gate.

Reflection

Proverbs 1:20–33 vividly contrasts two life paths: one of chaos, marked by folly, fear, and destruction, and one of peace, marked by wisdom, safety, and calm. The fear factor is real for those who reject wisdom—life becomes unpredictable and overwhelming. Yet, for those who walk in God’s wisdom, peace replaces fear, and confidence in God’s protection leads them through life’s storms.

Call to Action

Ask yourself today: Are you listening to the voice of wisdom? Where might fear have crept in because of ignoring God’s guidance? Turn to Him, and let His wisdom lead you into safety, peace, and a life free from fear.

Prayer

Lord,

Thank You for the voice of wisdom that calls to us every day. Help us to listen, to follow Your path, and to walk without fear, trusting in Your care. Lead us from chaos into peace and from folly into wisdom.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
