(A Reflection on Proverbs 2:12–22)
Scripture:
“Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse.” (Proverbs 2:12, NIV)
The Path of Wisdom
Two roads diverge in life’s great span,
One leads to peace, the other to man.
Wisdom stands at the fork to say,
“Choose the path of the righteous way.”
From wicked men, her voice will save,
Whose words mislead, whose hearts enslave.
They leave the light for crooked ground,
In shadows deep, their steps are bound.
Her voice protects from sin’s sweet lure,
The wayward call that seems so pure.
Smooth words entice, but pain they bring,
A fleeting joy with a bitter sting.
Like guardrails on a mountain steep,
Wisdom’s hand will safely keep.
She warns of cliffs, of treacherous lands,
And guides us home with loving plans.
Her light shines bright, a beacon clear,
Through stormy seas, through doubt and fear.
A lighthouse stands to guide our way,
To safe harbors where we’ll stay.
Reject her call, and the cost is steep,
The wicked lose what they cannot keep.
But those who walk in wisdom’s light,
Find joy, and peace, and rest at night.
So heed the signs, the warnings true,
Let wisdom’s voice instruct you too.
The path of life is hers to chart,
With truth and grace, she guards your heart.
Reflection
This poem reflects on Proverbs 2:12–22, illustrating how wisdom acts as a guide, protector, and beacon in life’s journey. Just as a lighthouse steers ships away from danger or guardrails keep drivers safe on mountain roads, wisdom keeps us from straying into harm’s way. Choosing the righteous path ensures not only safety but also the blessing of peace and joy in God’s presence.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for the gift of wisdom that guards my heart and guides my steps. Help me to heed Your warnings and choose the path that leads to life and righteousness. Keep me from temptation and draw me closer to Your truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
